FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a recognised locksmith qualification?
Though there is no formal regulation of locksmiths, the most recognised qualification a locksmith can obtain is a Master Locksmith accreditation from the Master Locksmith Association. This consists of four exams both written and practical. To take the exam, the locksmith would have had to have passed several other exams to get to this point.
Locksmithing, like many trades is a combination of both theory and practical application, and many locksmiths would have spent hours stripping down locks and reassembling them to gain valuable experience.
