Home & Car security

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to stop my house being burgled?

This is a broad question which requires a very comprehensive answer. In the main, the nature of security is to provide a deterrent. You are in essence trying to make your home a hard target, as opposed to a soft target. This means that you are trying to make it as difficult as possible for a burglar to gain entry to your home. The idea being, that the burglar will see it as being difficult to enter your house, and so will move on to an easier one.

In the first instance, you can ensure your locks are good and suitable for what they are securing, also that the locks are in good working order. Pay particular attention to outbuildings.

Keep valuables and easily sealable and popular items such as laptops and cameras out of view from the street. Ideally, ensure they are locked away preferably in a safe.

Consider other security measures such as lights, alarms and CCTV.
