I want to fit new locks myself, where should I begin?

This is not advisable for many reasons. Locks are a specialised area, and many locksmiths go through years of training and experience to learn how to pick and fit locks. Should you attempt to fit a lock yourself and you get it wrong, not only are you compromising the security of your home, but you may find you invalidate your insurance as well. This can have disastrous consequences in the long term.

It is always advisable to bring in a locksmith to fit new locks. Fitting the wrong lock is more easily done than many people realise.
