Lock and Door Manufacturers Avocet Hardware Ltd Fold

Door, ironmongery and lock manufacturers, Avocet Hardware, have gone into administration.

Duff & Phelps together with Global Restructuring Advisory practice have been appointed duel administrators.

Avocet Hardware Ltd operated three divisions. One supplied fixings, fasteners, and ironmongery, one manufactured windows and doors hardware, and the third manufactured high security locks. They are based in West Yorkshire, working from two warehouses.

The company appeared to be in trouble in 2011 where towards the end of the year it sold off a Chinese asset, a loss making door and window manufacturing operation. The company was also beset by one of its major customers going to the wall.

According to the administrators the company may well be saved, which will hopefully protect the livelihoods of its 150 employees.
